About Tena Novak Quartet and Experimental Suite

„Experimental Suite“, the last project written for the quartet, financed by the Croatian Ministry of Culture is, at its core of an idea, the sequence of movements of experimental and free improvised music that stands open in front of the musicians as an opportunity that will develop as a spontaneous improvisation, with slight contours of the frame with each of the movements. Each movement is driven by a specific fundamental guiding principle and the quartet, as a living sound organism, internally longs for its path and its way to communicate, which is a transforming process. Inside, actors are naturally divided and united, so there are no sharp edges that would close this natural process of creation.

About Tena Novak Quartet and Experimental suite
Violinist, composer, and experimental musician Tena Novak Vincek from Zagreb gathered her string quartet in the fall of 2020., intending to perform “Improkvart“, her experimental project written for the string quartet and financed by the Zagreb Cultural Office. After the performance, the quartet continued to improvise and experiment together and some of the free improv compositions and directed improvisations were performed in 2021. Zagreb Music Bienalle as well. Collaboration and compatibility of the quartet seem great, inspiring, and fulfilling for all members of the quartet equally.
